I still haven't gotten an email, but heard that my aunt Jodi had texted her boyfriend earlier today to let him know that ALL SIX of the Kili climbers safely made it to the summit! They descended about a third of the way and are sleeping now. They will spend the morning tomorrow finishing their descent. I can't wait to see pictures and hear all about it! I will update again tomorrow!
In case you missed the enthusiasm in my post... I am both relieved and excited that they all made the summit and are safely on their way back to flat ground. :)
On another note, The Kili Climbers online donations for Up With Downs are now at $6139. Wow! Thank you all for your generosity... We are truly blessed!
****Updated to add that Jodi's texts said that the summit day was hell, but they did it. They hiked for 14 hours and at least one of them got dehydrated, but all are fine now. Cell phone batteries were running very low by yesterday, but they will update us when they reach the hotel tomorrow.
